Rottenburg, & Tuebingen

After a lazy morning in which Amos discovered his 'broken' elbow may never have been broken after all - but still really really hurts, we went for a train adventure to Rottenburg and Tuebingen. Amos and Beatrix lived in Rottenburg for 1 1/2 years and it is a beautiful old town at the end of the valley, with a still visible and amazing city wall and lively Christmas markets. We also decided there that we should purchase Caleb some German kids books and started his collection with 'The little Mole who knew it was none of his business' or 'Vom kleinen Maulwurf, der wissen wollte, wer ihm auf den Kopf gemacht hat.'
Amos is a fantastic tour guide - but his natural pace is a bit faster than ours - and a lot faster than Caleb's as we are gradually realising.
We then jumped back on to the train and into Tuebingen, where Amos works at the university and where an annual 'Chocolate festival' happened to be in full swing. After a walk along the beautiful river, and seeing the FREE accomadation and grounds of the theological students in Tuebingen, Amos and Ben went to see his office, while Kate and Cal had a play in the park (just above zero degrees and already dark). Then we met back together to enjoy some chocolate treats and see the old part of Town - all in lights and an amazing place.
Ben and Amos met Beatrix and went to see the minister who'll marry them, whilst Kate and Cal continued home on the train and bus - a stressful but successful journey for them!
Oh, and Cal has suddenly become an adventure boy - stopping and demanding a go on any amusement park ride he sees (such as this big merry-go-round in Rottenburg).
